The survey for a bus service in our area has now been shared with eXplore. Prior to covid restrictions we had a couple of meetings with their commercial officer and their MD to discuss our options. They agreed in principle that at some point a bus service could be provided and that they would be interested in what the demand would be. In collaboration with them we produced a set of questions to put in our survey. As you will appreciate eXplore's situation has changed considerably as they concentrate on changing their set up to meet new covid legislation. Despite this we decided to go ahead with the survey so that the results would be available during better times. Key points follow and you can view the full summary with the attached link:

  • 252 respondents which represents about 50 % of the houses in our area.

  • For those that bought a new house 67 % were promised a bus service by the developers during the sales pitch.

  • 631 people would use the bus at some point, with 58 % of those being full paying adults ( 19- 59 ).

  • As you would expect the bulk of the journeys would be at peak times in the morning and afternoon. Which changes to during the day on Saturday and Sunday.

  • The vast majority want a service into town ( 78 %) with the next most popular destination being Ninewells at 12 %

  • The bus service would in the main be used for local leisure ( 40% ) and commuting to and from work ( 35 % ).
